I’ve been spending a fair portion of my online time posting for GGS Gamer in recent months and so, coupled with some time consuming IRL stuff, I’ve left this blog to rot. Expect further updates soon. :)

Happy Fairy Day to all my readers. I’ve had a fascination with faeries since I was a young girl and today my house is full of fairy ornaments, mirrors, paintings and other bits and pieces, especially those by Jessica Galbreth.

I’m taking part in the Transworld Dan Brown Summer Reading Challenge!

Between the Lines are holding a summer reading challenge which seems to me like a wonderful excuse to nab some books, find time for more reading and blog more.

My picks are:

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
    Lockdown by Sean Black
    Exit Wound by Andy McNab
Matters of the Heart by Danielle Steel

I’ve been going through a bit of a fiction ‘dry spell’ recently so I’m quite looking forward to taking part in this! Has anyone else signed up?

Date and location

Milton Keynes, Friday 28th – Monday 31st May 2010

Venue

The festival took place at The MK Dons Stadium. The weather was wet and cold which only added to the miserable and dull environment and left visitors chilly and soggy. Most of the guests sat huddled in small white ‘tents’ that were dotted around the stadium and so managed to remain fairly dry but must have been very cold and uncomfortable. On the plus side there was more than enough free parking to go around and a reliable free bus service that shuttled visitors to the stadium at regular intervals. There were also plenty of toilets.

Milton Keynes is a very strange place and unlike any other city or town I have ever visited. We explored the area by car and it seemed to comprise entirely of drab, plain office buildings, car parks, and retail parks. Our hotel, Travelodge Milton Keynes Central, was the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to visit. It was dirty, the staff were unpleasant, and the rooms unsecured. For £60 I expect much, much more. Thankfully the restaurant next door, The Silk Road, has very friendly staff and serves excellent food at a very reasonable price.

In short, if you’re reading this Showmasters please consider bringing back Collectormania Manchester so fans can enjoy a warm, dry venue in a truly central location with fantastic shops, bars, restaurants, galleries, and good transport links at their fingertips.

Hello there. It’s probably a good idea for me to say a few words about myself for those of you who don’t know me, right? And also to let you know what I’m likely to post about here so you can decide if you want to stick around or not. So here goes.

From 1999-2005 I ran a small collective of sites mostly relating to video games, and since then I’ve tried now and again to get a blog going but never really succeeded. I recently decided to try my hand at the blogging thing again, but also to bring back some of my old sites. I’ll gradually be bringing back those sites over the next couple of months; some of them were quite large and they all needed a good dusting since they haven’t been touched for over five years.

This blog will be updated with reviews, ramblings and recommendations relating to video games, books, sci-fi, cooking, politics, movies, and probably more besides, but let’s see how we get on with that lot first. I may also mention babies/ parenting now and again, but I only really talk about my family and personal issues in my livejournal (feel free to add me if you’re a member).

If you think you may be interested in reading further posts, please add my feed to your rss reader. Hope to see you soon!
